Amber Writes New Children's Book Star vs. The Forces of Evil: The Magic Book of Spells

Exciting news for Amber fans as it was recently announced that she has written a third children's book. Star vs The Forces of Evil: The Magic Book of Spells. The second original book to be based on the popular Disney cartoon Star vs The Forces of Evil.

Star vs The Forces of Evil centers on Star Butterfly who’s from a far off dimension. To keep her safe Star’s parents send her to earth disguised as an exchange student. Where she befriends Marco and together the two of them try to survive school and keep Star’s magic safe.

In 2017 Amber wrote Star and Marco’s Guide to Mastering Every Dimension! The first original book to be based on the cartoon series. The Magic Book of Spells includes every spell featured in the show, the story of Mewni, as told by thirteen queens as well as secrets and magic from Star Butterfly herself. Amber will once again team up with series creator/writer Daron Nefcy, supervising producer/writer Dominic Bisignano and they are also joined by illustrator Devin Taylor.

The good news is we don't have long to wait as The Magic Book of Spells is said to be released on 11th of September and is available to preorder now via Amazon in the UK and USA, click the hyperlinks for details.

I may not fit the target age for Amber's latest book, but I'm looking forward to checking it out and supporting her work as always.

Amber Will Be A Celebrity Guest At LitFEST Pasadena This Sunday

Amber will be a celebrity guest at LitFEST Pasadena on Sunday the 20th of May. LitFest is held at multiple venues around the city of Pasadena in California. It features workshops, readings, author talks, literary performances and much more.

Amber is attending two events on Sunday as a celebrity guest reading from her own work. The first of these is Journeys & Realizations: YA Novelists Read Favorite Passages from Their Books. Amber will read from Death's Daughter the first book in her Calliope Reaper-Jones Series. The event will be held at the Pasadena Playhouse Library between 4:15 - 5:15 PM PDT. The second event Amber will be attending is The Tomorrow Prize – Short Sci-Fi by L.A. Teens Reading & Awards. This was a competition open to high school students in Los Angeles County to find the best original science fiction short. The finalists will read from their work and the winner announced. Amber will be one of the celebrity guests giving a reading to the audience. The event will be held at Blankspaces Pasadena between 5:30 - 7:00 PM PDT. To find out more click here.

Amber To Attend A Book Signing At Whedoncon 2018 This Saturday

A few days ago it was confirmed that Amber is set to attend a book signing at WhedonCon 2018 held in Los Angeles this weekend. I'm sure the name of Dark Delicacies Bookstore will be familiar to many Amber fans as she has attended many signings and events at their store in Burbank over the last few years. Amber will again be a guest of Dark Delicacies, this time at their booth in the vendor hall that will be part of the WhedonCon 2018 event.

Amber will be signing books at Dark Delicacies Booth from 12 PM to 3 PM PST on Saturday, 19th of May. WhedonCon confirmed to us via Twitter that Amber will not be attending any panels or events this year as she is a guest of Dark Delicacies.

I've had many dealings with Dark Delicacies over the years and their staff have always been friendly and helpful and as we know there's only one thing better than an Amber Benson book and that's a signed Amber Benson book. If you haven't had the chance to meet Amber and can get there do it I guarantee you'll have fun Amber is terrific.

Amber Is A Guest On The Switchblade Sisters Podcast

Last Thursday Amber was the guest on the Switchblade Sisters podcast. In each episode film critic April Wolfe invites a female actor, writer, director or producer to discuss one of their favourite action or genre films. As Amber has all of these credits to her name she was an ideal guest. Amber's chosen film was 1980s horror classic Night Of The Comet. It had a big impact on her at an early age in part due to it having two young female protagonists Amber and April talk about the film’s key messages and themes and much more.

They also delve into filmmaking and how Amber made her first self financed film Chance which she wrote and directed as well as playing the title role opposite former Buffy the Vampire Slayer co star James Marsters. Amber also discusses her role of Tara on Buffy the Vampire Slayer and her 5 book Calliope Reaper-Jones series of novels. I think Calliope is a fantastic character and I love the world Amber created. They also discuss the need for female characters to be both complex and at times flawed.

I thoroughly enjoyed this podcast, it's an absolute must listen for any Amber fan. Her enthusiasm for writing and creating shines through and she's funny, honest and insightful. I'll be honest I hadn't even heard of Night Of the Comet before listening to this podcast but I was so intrigued I ordered the film online so I could watch it myself.

Amber To Attend Signing Event at Dark Delicacies Book Store on Sunday The 10th of December.

After delighting UK fans (myself included) during her weekend stay in London as one of the celebrity guests of the 8th annual Vampire Ball. Fans in USA will have a chance to meet her this Sunday when she’ll be attending a book signing event at Dark Delicacies in Burbank California.

Amber will be signing copies of the book Where Nightmares Come From The Art of Storytelling in The Horror Genre. This new book is edited by Joe Mynhardt and Eugene Johnson and is a collection of stories and articles from a number of authors and contributors examining storytelling within the horror genre.

Amber is interviewed by Del Howison for a section of the book titled "Creating Magic From A Blank Piece Of Paper" as part of this piece Del also interviews Tom Holland, Fred Dekker and Kevin Tenney.

The signing event will take place from 4 PM onwards on Sunday, December the 10th at Dark Delicacies bookstore.

Even if like me you can't attend the signing in person fear not you can still get your hands on a signed copy ordering via Dark Delicacies website using the link above. They will ship cross the US and to the UK. I'm not sure about postage to other countries my advice would be to email them and ask. I have ordered many books and DVDs from them in the past and I’ve always received friendly, helpful service.

I'm looking forward to reading Amber's thoughts on the creative writing process and I hope everyone who is able to attend the event has a fantastic time.

A Short Story Co-Written By Amber To Be Included In Christopher Golden's New Book Don't Go Alone

Author Christopher Golden recently announced a new book Don’t Go Alone containing a collection of short stories he has written with top authors including Charlaine Harris, Tim Lebbon, Mike Mignola, James A. Moore, Thomas Sniegoski and of course Amber Benson.

Christopher and Amber are friends and have a long-standing working relationship. In 2001 the pair co wrote Buffy The Vampire Slayer: “Wilderness” & “Wannablessedbe” a two part comic book focusing on the characters Willow & Tara. Published by Dark Horse Comics and in 2003 was re-released as a graphic novel called Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Willow and Tara.

In 2002 the pair co wrote and developed The Ghosts of Albion an online animated series that was made for the BBC. Due to the popularity of the series, a novella and two full-length novels were published chronicling the continuing adventures of the central characters William and Tamara Swift. They also wrote supernatural novella Seven Whistlers with was recently released in paperback for the first time along with Lights Out a radio drama made for the BBC.

At the moment there is no news on which of their collaborations will be included in Don't Go Alone or if they have written a brand-new story. Don't Go Alone will make its debut at Merrimack Valley Halloween Book Festival and be released on 21st of October 2017.

I will post an update when we find out more about Don't Go Alone.

Amber To Attend Clueless Senior Year Signing Event

A few days ago it was revealed that Amber will be attending a special signing event for the brand-new Clueless Senior Year graphic novel which Amber co-wrote with her friend and fellow author Sarah Kuhn. Clueless Senior Year is the follow-up to Amy Heckerling’s hit 1995 movie Clueless staring Alicia Silverstone. Amber and Sarah’s all new and original story is an opportunity for fans of the movie to follow the ups and downs of Cher, Dionne and Tai during their final year of high school.

This special signing event is presented by Boom! Studios the publishers of Clueless Senior Year and is being hosted by The Comic Bug store in Culver City California. The event is being held tomorrow (the 6th of September 2017) between 6 PM - 8 PM PDT. Both Amber and Sarah are due to attend and will be signing and chatting to fans. They will be joined by Siobhan Keenan who did a superb job as the illustrator of Clueless Senior Year.

Amber To Contribute To Upcoming Anthology Life Inside My Mind

Amber is among a number of top authors contributing to a brand-new anthology entitled Life Inside My Mind. A collection of essays where each author will share their personal experiences with the anthology aimed at young adult readers.

The aim of book according the publishers Simon & Schuster is to let young people know that they are not alone. Life Inside My Mind will tackle subjects including neurodiversity, addiction, OCD, PTSD and more. Each contributing author has agreed to speak openly about their own experiences and struggles to help the reader.

Alongside Amber Benson other contributing authors include:

Kami Garcia
Ellen Hopkins
Maureen Johnson
Jessica Burkhart (who is also editor of the book)
and many more

No details about the subject of Amber's essay have been released at the moment. I think the book is a terrific idea and I’d like to praise every author involved for having the courage to share personal accounts in the hope it will help others through difficult times. In the past I've seen Amber reach out to help other people with honesty and compassion so it comes as no surprise to me that she has chosen to be part of this unique project.

The End Of Magic Is Released Today

As many Amber Benson fans will already know the 16th of May 2017 is the official release date for The End of Magic, the third and final book in Amber's Echo Park Coven series.

I know some visitors to the site find us through the articles in our latest news section via Google so I thought I'd post here so people could find out more about The End of Magic.

Amber To Attend The End Of Magic Launch Party At Mysterious Galaxy Bookstore

There was exciting news for fans as Amber confirmed via her official Facebook page that she will be attending a launch party and signing for her new book The End of Magic on 16th of May 2017.

Bookstore Mysterious Galaxy will be hosting the party and signing event at the San Diego store on 16th of May 2017 which as many fans will know as the release date for The End Of Magic. The End of Magic is the third and final book in Amber's Echo Park Coven series with Lyse and her fellow Blood Sisters while they battle to save themselves and humanity from a deadly threat known as The Flood.

The party will begin at 7:30 PM at the San Diego store 5943 Balboa Ave. Suite #100 San Diego, CA 92111

If you can't make it to the signing in person mysterious Galaxy can ship signed copies to the US, UK and beyond. I've ordered from them before and have always received good service.
