Drones
In 2010, Amber co-directed Drones with her former Buffy The Vampire Slayer co-star, Adam Busch. Drones is an original Sci-Fi comedy written by Ben Acker & Ben Blacker.
Jonathan M. Woodward, who fans of Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Angel & Firefly will recognize, plays a guy named Brian. Brian is nice, but unambitious. He works for a company called Omni Link, where his biggest worry is what changes corporate has made to the company database.
His job may be dull, but Brian is quite content with his life. After all, he has his best friend Clark (Samm Levine, Freaks and Geeks) to help relieve the boredom. Then, there's Amy (Angela Bettis, Girl Interrupted, May), with whom Brian has been flirting, but hasn't worked up the nerve to take the next step.
Brain's quiet life has soon gone topsy-turvy when he stumbles on a shocking secret, and discovers that some of his co-workers are not what they seem. THAT'S when the fun begins!
Drones held its world premiere at the Slam Dance film festival in 2010, and since then has been screened at a number of other festivals in the USA. The London Sci-Fi Film Festival hosted the UK premiere of Drones on the 5th of March 2010, which I was lucky enough to attend. Jonathan M. Woodward was also present, and took part in a Q&A session with fans after the screening.
Drones is a must see! The good news, it is now out on DVD and available to buy from Amazon.com.
At this moment in time it isn’t available via the UK site. However if you live in the UK you can buy from the US and it they will ship it to the UK. The cost of shipping if you’re worried is around £4.00 but believe me when I say, it’s well worth it! The DVD itself is coded to Region 1, however, most DVD players can be made multi-regional easily, and for free.
If you live in the USA Drones is also currently available on a range of TV and On-demand viewing options including:
Showtime
Amazon Video On Demand
Blockbuster.com
Unfortunately Drones isn’t available on these services in the UK. If and when this changes, I will of course let you know.
Drones has an original soundtrack which features music from Common Rotation and Dan Bern. The soundtrack can be purchased from the iTunes store both in the UK and the US.
