Morganville The Series
Amber Benson as Amelie
Supernatural fiction fans out there, you'll no doubt recognize the name Morganville as the setting for Rachel Caine's phenomenally successful MORGANVILLE VAMPIRES series of novels. Morganville is a town in Texas like no other in that it's run entirely by vampires. The series spans 15 books and has millions of devoted followers. Unlike other similar series, however, (such as the ever popular Harry Potter series), Morganville has never been made into a film or TV series.
Rachel decided that had to change so in the summer 2013 she announced plans to produce a series of TV quality webisodes. To direct and produce the series, Rachel has enlisted the services of Blake Calhoun who is responsible for bringing a string of web shows to the world including: PINK-The Series and many more.
To turn these ambitious plans into a reality Rachel launched a Kickstarter Campaign with the aim of raising $75,000 to put the series into production. The campaign began with very exciting news Amber Benson was attached to the project to play non other than Morganville Town Founder Amelie. After so many years of Buffy under her belt, it appears to be a case of "If you can't slay them, join them". Now of course we all know that it won't be Amber's first time playing a vampire. Who could forget her brilliant performance as Lenore on the hit television show SUPERNATURAL, or her voice over capabilities as Vampire Tara in Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Chaos Bleeds?
In return for a donation to help fund the project Rachel and her team offered a range of rewards. Anything from thank you on Twitter, all the way up to a cameo role in the series, or even your own co-producer credit and of course everything in between including DVDs and posters so there was something on offer to suit every budget. Fans of Morganville & Amber responded in great numbers to support this unique project. When the campaign came to an end on the 11th of July it had smashed it’s original target raising a total of $81,752.
Morganville the series began filming on location in Texas on 7 April 2014. This was an exciting day for all fans of the series whether you’re a long-time reader or a relative newcomer like myself, as if that weren't enough there were two major announcements made guaranteed to get fans buzzing.
Firstly Geek and Sundry the online TV channel and multimedia platform and production company co-founded by actress Felicia Day announced it would be adding Morganville to its line-up of shows including tabletop and Caper from the summer of 2014. If you are unfamiliar with Felicia's name she is the creator and star of hit web series The Guild and star of Joss Whedon's Dr Horrible's Singalong Blog as well as having appeared on a number of US network television shows such as House, Dollhouse and Buffy the Vampire Slayer, I always said that girl had potential. The second piece of major news was that the full cast of Morganville The Series has now been confirmed. We have of course known that Amber will play the part of town founder Amelie the question remained who would join her now we have the answer the cast is as follows:
We now know the co-starring alongside Amber will be a name familiar to Stargate fans Robert Picardo who star as Oliver alongside:
Lindsay Seidel as Claire Danvers
Jordan Farris as Shane Collins
Ben Easter as Michael Glass
Haileigh Todd as Eve Rosser
Afomia Hailemeskel as Monica Morrell
Chase Ryan Jeffery as Myrnin
Gregory Connors as Brandon
Nikki Donley as Hannah Moses
Jessi Mechler as Gina
Taylor Murphy as Jennifer
