The Calliope Reaper-Jones Series
Following the success of the Ghost of Albion series, in 2007, Amber announced a three book deal with Ace Books, part of the publishing giant Penguin. These are the first solo novels written by Amber, which have added to her already growing reputation as an author.
The series centres around Calliope Reaper-Jones, or Callie to her friends, a young woman living in New York City who dreams of a career in the fashion industry. For now, though, Callie has settled for being the executive assistant to the president of House & Yard.
Calliope isn’t like the millions of other young women trying to make it in New York. Mainly, because she is Death’s Daughter. That’s right; her father is President and CEO of Death INC, in a world where Death is run as a corporation. Callie loves her father, but is desperate not to follow him into the family business. To avoid any responsibility as Death's next heir, Callie uses a forgetting charm to give herself the normal life she craves, but she soon discovers that nothing lasts forever.

Death's Daughter
In Death’s Daughter, the first novel in the series, Callie’s quiet life is shattered with the news that her Father (the CEO of Death INC) and her older sister, Thalia have both been kidnapped. As if that wasn’t shocking enough Callie soon learns she is only one who can step into her father‘s shoes to protect her Mom and younger sister, Clio.
In order to take control of Death INC, the Board sets before her the challenge of recovering three items, but she must do it before the Devil’s Protege can seize all of them and control Death INC along with it. The race is on to save her father, Thalia, and the family business.
Callie is thrown back into a world of demons, deities, and magic, but help is on hand, or hoof rather, as Jarvis, a fawn and her father’s trusted Executive Assistant is there for her every step of the way. Callie and Jarvis are about to go to Hell and back, and I mean that literally. The question is can she handle it?

Cat’s Claw
In Cat's Claw, the second installment of the series, Callie may have made her peace with her family, but she is still determined to make it on her own in her Battery City, New York apartment.
Just when her life is back to normal, Cerberus the three-headed guard of the North Gate of Hell, reminds Callie that it’s time for her to repay the debt she owes him. As usual, things don’t quite go as planned. Lucky for Callie, Jarvis is back and once again by her side.
The task at hand? To retrieve the death record for an errant soul belonging to Senemut, one of the talented architects of ancient Egypt, for Cerberus. Getting a death record doesn't sound that hard, right? It wouldn't be, especially to Death's Daughter...if the thing wasn't being kept in Purgatory.
Callie and Jarvis set off for ancient Egypt, meeting mythological greats, such as the Anubis Brothers and Bast, the Queen of Cats. Along the way, they'll visit the bustling city of Las Vegas, and of course spend some time in Purgatory.
Can Callie stand another task set before her by the other-worldly creatures that inhabit her father's line of work?

Serpent’s Storm
Callie maybe stuck in the same old cubicle at House & Yard, but with a new boyfriend she has other things on her mind.
The Devil is back, and about to launch a devastating attack on both Death INC and the Reaper-Jones family. To make matters worse, Callie can’t be sure who to trust as friends quickly become enemies, and enemies become friends.
The third novel in the series provides the same blend of magic, drama, humour, and romance we’ve come to expect. There is, however, a much darker tone to this book, and the question is who will be left standing at the finale? One thing is for certain Callie’s life will never be the same again!
The written word isn’t the only way to catch up with Callie’s adventures. Death’s Daughter, Cat’s Claw and Serpent’s Storm are all available as audio books to buy from Audible.com. All three books are unabridged so you won’t miss a thing. If that wasn’t enough, they are read by Amber herself.
Unfortunately due to a rights issue the audio books are not currently available in the UK. When, and if this changes you guys will be the first to know!
The series was originally to be a trilogy however due to it’s success Amber has written two more novels to find out more visit Calliope Reaper-Jones page 2.
