Ghosts of Albion - Legacy co-written and also directed by Amber Benson available for a limited time from the BBC.

In 2002 Amber Benson co-wrote and co-created Ghosts of Albion with Christopher Golden. The Ghosts of Albion series is set in 1880’s London and centres around the lives of two siblings, William and Tamara Swift. After two full length animated dramas Legacy and Embers, the adventures continued in an novella Astray followed by two full length novels Accursed and Witchery.

Sadly the animated dramas are no longer available to watch however the good news is that the BBC recently re-broadcast the complete audio performance of Ghosts of Albion – Legacy on BBC Radio 4 Extra a few weeks ago. It is available to listen to on demand online and via the BBC Sounds App for a limited time. I must apologise to fellow fans as due to a number of commitments I was delayed in posting this article and at the time of publication it is available for less than two more days.

Ghosts of Albion – Legacy is the origin story where the audience are introduced to William and Tamara Swift. While on his death bed, their grandfather, Ludlow, tells them they must take over his role as the protector of Albion, which is Old English for England. As the protectors of Albion they must defend England and the world against the demons and dark magic that threaten it.

Amber Benson to participate in a panel at Hellmouth Con 2025 - This Weekend

Earlier this week Amber revealed on her official Instagram account that she will be participating in a panel at Hellmouth Con 2025 on Saturday, the 14th of June.

Hellmouth Con is an LA base convention dedicated to Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Amber played the much-loved character of Tara Maclay. In recent years Amber has transitioned from acting to writing and has written novels, as well as writing for film and television. She has also written and co-written a number of Buffy related projects including, comic books, short stories and the Audible exclusive audio drama Slayers: A Buffyverse Story.

In this exciting panel Amber will be discussing genre literature, female protagonists and the process of turning a book into an audiobook. She will be joined by friend and fellow author Raven Belasco.

Raven’s name may well be familiar to fans and regular visitors to this site as Amber has narrated the audiobook versions of Blood Ex Libris and Blood Demands the first two books in Raven’s Blood and Ancient Scrolls series. Amber and Raven's panel will take place on Saturday, the 14th of June 3pm-3:55 pm PDT in the auditorium. If you would like more information about Raven's books, click here.

Hellmouth Con is being held at Torrance High School located at 2200 W. Carson St. Torrance, CA 90501. The event is being organised by Fandom Charities Inc a nonprofit organisation that brings fans together and raises money for good causes. As many fans will know, Amber has an ever-growing body of work as a narrator of audiobooks, including the audiobook versions of her own work The Witches of Echo Park (available internationally) and the first three novels in her Calliope Reaper-Jones series (which are only available in the USA).

Amber has narrated several other audiobooks for other authors across a wide range of genres. This time Amber is working as one of three narrators on Chuck Wendig’s brand-new horror novel The Staircase In The Woods. Narrating alongside Amber are Jay Myers and Xe Sands.

Fans in the UK can now see Amber in Buffy the Vampire Slayer on free streaming service ITVX

Fans in the UK can now watch Amber Benson as Tara Maclay in Buffy the Vampire Slayer via the free streaming service ITVX.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer is now available in the UK, free, on ITV’s streaming service ITVX. Earlier this month all seven seasons were added to ITVX, which is free and supported by adverts. It’s the first time it's been on free-to-air television or free streaming service since 2022 when it was previously available from another UK broadcaster Channel 4.

ITVX can be watched on a range of devices including laptops, tablets, smart phones, smart TVs, games consoles, and more. There is also a premium option available if you wish to watch without adverts. For more information on how to watch Buffy the Vampire Slayer see the hyperlink below.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer on ITVX

This will give Amber fans the chance to see her play the iconic and much-loved role of Tara Maclay who made her debut in "Hush" in season 4. Buffy remains much loved by fans even after more than two decades.

Buffy is still attracting new generations of fans even today so with this in mind, if you are a first-time viewer, there will be some spoilers below.

Amber played Tara Maclay for three seasons. Her shy smile, honesty, and loyalty made her a big hit with fans. Amber's dramatic exit from the show in 2002 was extremely controversial, especially among the LGBTQ community, and still provides a big talking point for fans to this day.

Tara & Willow (Alyson Hannigan) were the first long term openly gay couple on a US network television show. Amber played the role of Tara with both honesty and sensitivity, which earned her much deserved praise.

The role had a big impact on her life, and Amber continues to support the LGBTQ community. Amber’s impact on the Buffyverse goes far beyond her role on screen. Amber has co-written Willow and Tara comic books with her friend and fellow author Christopher Golden. Amber has also written her own short story about Claudine who was the Slayer at the time of the French Revolution.

In 2023, Slayers: A Buffyverse Story was released – an Audible Exclusive podcast series. It’s set within the Buffy verse thirteen years after “Chosen”, the final episode of the TV series. Amber co-wrote, co-directed, and reprised her role as Tara Maclay along with several of her co-stars and friends returning to the original roles they played in the TV series.

Happy holidays everyone! I hope you enjoyed a relaxing and peaceful time. I have been busy with work and some other commitments but I’m back with some exciting, Amber-related news.

A few weeks ago, it was revealed that Amber had narrated the audiobook version of Osgood As She Gets, the third novel in author Cooper S. Beckett’s ‘Spectral Inspectors series'.

Osgood As She Gets sees the return of Chicago's favourite ghost hunter Prudence Osgood – who is also the host of The Spectral Inspectors Podcast. Together with her friends Audrey and Zack, they investigate paranormal activity in and around the Windy City and sometimes beyond. Prudence is a complicated antihero who struggles with addiction and pain management due to her disability and a very complicated love life. This intriguing lead character is about to plunge into another supernatural mystery.

A wave of unexplained suicides has hit Chicago, and the Spectral Inspectors investigate whether there is a link to a sinister social media craze known as The Graveyard Game. Could the game itself be responsible for so many unexplained deaths or could it be connected to the mysterious Northside Ripper the police are hunting for? Osgood, Audrey, and Zack are racing against time to find the answers before more lives are lost!

Last month, the audiobook version of Blood Demands, the second novel in Raven Belasco’s Blood and Ancient Scrolls series, was released.

Amber narrated BLOOD EX LIBRIS, the first book in this exciting series in 2023, and she will once again lead us into this exciting and intriguing supernatural world.

The series centres on Anushka ‘Noosh’ Rosetti, a former librarian who has left the human world behind, but her hopes of an easy introduction into her new life are short-lived, and she soon travels to South America to attempt to rescue an ancient vampire in need of help.

If you live in or around the Los Angeles area, here's some exciting news for you. Amber will be hosting a conversation with fellow author Kate Stayman-London, and they will be discussing Kate's newly released novel ‘Fang Fiction’.

The novel centres on a New York hotel manager who loves nothing more than spending time lost in the pages of her favourite supernatural romance novel until that world becomes all too real.

Over the last few months, Amber has certainly been involved in some exciting audio projects, and here is another one to add to that list. As many people will know, she has been involved in writing, acting, and narrating several audio dramas and audiobooks, both her own work and for many other authors as well.

It has been announced that she will narrate the upcoming audio version of the Constituent Service - A Third District Story Novella by John Scalzi, which has been recorded exclusively for Audible.

As many of you will know, Amber has narrated two of John's novels in the past: Lock in and Head On. Set in a futuristic world where John decided not to reveal the gender of his main character, Amber, and friend and fellow actor Wil Wheaton narrated two different versions of both books. In fact, both Amber and Wil were nominated for an Audie Award for their work on Lock In.

Amber is now set to work on John's latest work. The novella Constituent Service is in a world where humans and aliens coexist. I have added the publisher summary below:

A few days ago, it was announced that Amber Benson has narrated the soon-to-be-released audiobook version of BLOOD EX LIBRIS - the first book in the Blood & Ancient Scrolls series by Raven Belasco.

BLOOD EX LIBRIS centres on Anushka ‘Noosh’ Rosetti – a librarian’s typical workday is turned upside down when she meets Vlad Dracula, perhaps the most famous vampire in the world.

The pair embark on a whirlwind romance and Noosh chooses to give up the mortal world. However, she has no time to settle into her new existence as she is plunged into a power struggle for control of vampire society. Dracula's fiercest rival abducts Noosh. Now she must find a way to escape and save herself, and possibly the whole of vampire society too.

BLOOD EX LIBRIS Is set to be released on the 26th of May 2024 (World Dracula Day) At the time of writing this article the audiobook is not yet available for pre-order.

I asked author Raven Belasco via Instagram if the audiobook would be available in the UK. Raven was kind enough to reply to say: “We plan to release it on Audible internationally”.

The Audiobook Version Of Tidal Creatures Narrated By Amber Benson Corrected Article

Last month I posted an article Amber is set to narrate the audiobook version of Tidal Creatures. In the original article, I gave the wrong release date. I incorrectly wrote that the release date was the 6th of April 2024. I was looking at the date from the US Audible website and in America, they write the month first and then the day.

The correct date for the release is, in fact, the 4th of June 2024. I apologise to everyone for my error. Regular visitors to the site will know that I pride myself on providing accurate information about projects Amber is working on. I have fallen short on this occasion and I apologise again for any inconvenience caused.

The good news is this exciting audiobook will soon be released and here is everything you need to know.

Tidal Creatures is the third book in the Alchemical Journeys series which is written by Amber's friend and fellow author, Seanan McGuire.
