On January 30th Amber joined a number of former co-stars and fellow Buffy the Vampire Slayer cast members as part of an online convention. "Meet The Cast Of Buffy The Vampire Slayer” was arranged by convention organisers GalaxyCon who like others have been holding online events due to the Covid 19 pandemic.

Amber was joined by James Masters, Clare Kramer, Emma Caulfield and Mark Metcalfe who played The Master in Season 1. The panel formed part of the online convention and was streamed live. All the guest answered questions from fans around the world who had tuned in to watch. Amber and co also reminisced about their individual memories of the show.

Recently organisers GalaxyCon made this panel available to watch on demand for free via their official YouTube channel, giving fans another chance to see Amber and her fellow cast members.

I have embedded the video below, just click the play button to watch the panel which is
over 46 minutes long.
Please Note: This panel was recorded before the recent serious allegations against Buffy the Vampire Slayer creator Joss Whedon came to light.

It's always nice to have the opportunity to see and hear from Amber and I’d like to thank friend of the site Samantha for giving me a heads up about this video being available on demand.

Recent Allegations Against Joss Whedon

2/20/2021

Hello everyone,

Normally this part of the website is reserved for the latest news on Amber's projects and appearances. However, on Wednesday, 10 February 2021 serious allegations were made against Buffy the Vampire Slayer’s creator Joss Whedon by former cast member Charisma Carpenter. These have been supported by Amber Benson along with statements from Sarah Michelle Geller and Michelle Trachtenberg to name just a few.

The reason I'm using the word allegations in this post is to guard against anyone acting on behalf of Mr Whedon requesting this post be taken down or take action against AmberBenson.TV I want to be able to continue to bring you news about Amber in the future. We are not a website that's solely focuses on Buffy The Vampire Slayer of course but it has played a big part in Amber's career and there is other Buffy related content on the website.

In the years since Buffy and Angel went off the air, I’ve seen a couple of articles highlighting some disturbing allegations about Joss’ conduct. Looking back as a fan I should have viewed these articles in greater depth, and I regret not doing so. Until Charisma, Amber and other cast members released their statements I did not realise how serious or how widespread the alleged behaviour was.

These allegations sadden me and have tainted my view of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, a show that still means a lot to me. Buffy played a big part in me becoming a fan of Amber and creating this website. I’ve met a number of wonderful people including Amber and have made lasting friendships with fellow fans because of Buffy too.

As other people have said though there are writers, cast and crew all of whom who have done no wrong and worked incredibly hard to shape the characters and make Buffy & Angel what it is. The Buffyverse is bigger than one man.

I think Buffy The Vampire Slayer did have a lot of positive messages and there is a community of fans around the world who care about one and other. We should not lose sight of the good Buffy did. Allegations of this nature should always be taken seriously and any form of bullying, abuse or misogyny should not be condoned or excused.

I don't want to paraphrase or try and summarise the words of Amber or Charisma so I have put their respective statements here so fans can read them. Charisma Carpenter's statement from her Instagram and Amber Benson's tweet in support of Charisma’s statement. (Please click the hyperlinks in the text)

Finally, I just want to make clear that I do not support or condone any form of abuse or bullying. I will always stand with anyone who has experienced abuse. Amber and the projects she’s involved in will always have my full support both now and the future.

Joe

Amber Benson & Charisma Carpenter To Hold A Meet And Greet With Fans Online In February

1/27/2021

Picture
There was some exciting news for fans earlier this week as Amber confirmed via her official social media accounts that she and Charisma Carpenter will hold a virtual meet and greet event with fans online in February.

As the coronavirus pandemic continues to affect the lives of everyone around the globe one of the many things that has been halted temporarily is traditional conventions where fans can meet their favourite stars. Charisma Carpenter decided to give her fans the chance to meet with her online via the MyCon.live website where fans can buy one-to-one video chats via Zoom, autographs and more.

For this latest exciting event Charisma has teamed up with her fellow Buffy The Vampire Slayer star and friend Amber Benson. Amber and Charisma never had the opportunity to work together on Buffy which is a shame, I think it would have been interesting if Tara and Cordelia had crossed paths. The pair did work together however on a movie, The Griddle House which was released in 2018.

The meet and greet will be similar to a roundtable discussion which are sometimes called "guest encounters" at traditional conventions. Guests talk to a limited number of fans who can ask questions. This event will last for 45 minutes and is strictly limited to just 25 people and it will be held on the Zoom video calling platform. Tickets are still available for this event at the time this post was first published on AmberBenson.TV.

The meet and greet is set to take place on Saturday the 27th of February at 12 PM Pacific Time which I believe is 8 PM GMT in the UK. For full details and to buy tickets click the link below:

This promises to be a fun and exciting event. I already have my ticket and I look forward to seeing Amber, Charisma and fellow fans too of course.

UK-based convention organisers Wales Comic Con are giving fans another chance to see Amber Benson as one of the guests in a Buffy the Vampire Slayer panel with a live replay being shown tonight at 7 PM BST

Wales Comic Con has held a number of these online Comic Con events throughout 2020. This weekend marks the final one of the year and as part of that they are giving fans the chance to see a live replay of the Buffy the Vampire Slayer panel originally held back in May.

Amber was joined by her fellow Buffy co-stars:

Anthony Head
Clare Kramer
James Marsters
Seth Green

All of whom were generously donating their time for free with any and all profits from the event going to support the NHS in this difficult time.

To view the panel on demand head to Twitch.com/walescomiccon and sign up for an account or use your existing account details to sign into the Twitch video sharing platform. Then click subscribe, the cost of the subscription is £4.99 per month. For this you can view the panel as many times as you wish online or via the app, you'll also get access to all of the panels which took place as part of the event. The panel is a must see for any Amber/Buffy fan as Amber and co discuss life in lockdown and share their experiences and memories of what it was like to be part of the Buffyverse. There are some brilliant behind-the-scenes stories and a lot of laughs too, I can highly recommend it.

I apologise for the short notice in this particular event due to work I wasn't able to get this update online any quicker. This event is in support of mental health charity Mind, to find out more check out the official Wales Comic Con Live official website click here.

Click on the hyperlinks to find out more information about all of these.

Amber Is The Special Guest On A Brand-New Episode Of Slayerfest ‘98 Podcast

10/8/2020

Picture
Here is my second exciting update of the day. Recently Amber was the special guest on a brand-new episode of the Slayerfest ‘98 podcast and she shared a post on her official Twitter account yesterday to let fans know how they could listen.

Amber has been a guest on the podcast before and this time she is joined by hosts Ian Carlos Crawford, Dana Piccoli, and LaToya Ferguson. In this episode they discuss Buffy of course and a whole lot more.

Amber describes her very first day working on Buffy the Vampire Slayer and encountering The Gentleman as she made her debut in the iconic Hush episode in Season 4. Her relationship with fans and why it's so important to her to have a genuine connection with them is something she misses due to the cancellation of conventions due to COVID - 19. The group talk about fashion on Buffy and the famous dress Amber wore in Once More With Feeling.

Amber talks openly and honestly about Tara’s exit and gives what in my opinion is a very fair and balanced view of the situation as she saw it. While not shying away from the fact mistakes were made and this storyline could and should have been done differently. She also touches upon why she opted not to return in Season 7.

It's not only Buffy that is discussed however as Amber talks about her ambition to be a show runner and spending her time in lockdown working on the pilot episode of The Witches of Echo Park TV series which will be based on her Echo Park Coven Trilogy of novels. She describes the challenge of adapting something from page to screen and also reveals a few snippets of information that I don't think fans have heard before which is very exciting. The Witches of Echo Park pilot is not the only thing Amber has been working on as she talks about writing A Murder To Remember, a movie based on a true crime story which had its premiere earlier this year on Lifetime in the USA.

The Slayerfest ‘98 podcast is available to listen and download from:

PodBeen

Apple Podcasts

Spotify (click on the hyperlinks)

Amber talks about a range of subjects honestly with compassion and fairness. This is why I personally admire Amber so much, not just for her talent for creating things and bringing characters to life but for being the genuine, kind and intelligent person she is. There are some serious topics tackled in this podcast but there are also some really funny moments. For all these reasons I’ve outlined above if you get a chance please give this podcast a listen.

The Vampire Ball Which Amber Was Due To Attend In November Has Been Postponed

8/22/2020

Picture
Earlier this week there was some sad but not perhaps unexpected news for UK Amber fans as The Vampire Ball has been officially postponed because of the ongoing COVID 19 Pandemic.

In October 2019 Amber had been the first guest announced  for the 11th Annual Vampire Ball, a three day event celebrating Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Firefly and Dollhouse. The Vampire Ball was due to be held between the 13th - 15th of November at The Renaissance Hotel, Heathrow, London.

The event organisers Star Fury Conventions have taken the decision to postpone The Vampire Ball until 2021 saying:

“Many of the guests and attendees would feel uneasy attending an event like this so close after a pandemic. We would also have to enforce distancing measures with the guests, which would mean no hugs or poses during the photo ops, or handshakes during the autograph session. This would create a quite uncomfortable environment that is simply not the Starfury way.”

I've been lucky enough to attend one of their previous events and I really enjoyed the chance to meet and talk to Amber who was one of the guests on my previous visit I don't think the event would be the same with social distancing in place.

In the statement released on the official Vampire Ball website Star Fury Conventions say that anyone who has purchased a ticket for The Vampire Ball will have it automatically transferred over to the rescheduled event in 2021. They have indicated that there will be refunds available to anyone who has a ticket but is unable to attend the event next year. The refund option will be available once the new dates have been finalised.

To read their statement in full click the link below:

http://seanharry.com/home/vampire-ball/

I'm of course very disappointed that I won't get to see Amber and her fellow guests as well as some friends I’ve met at The Vampire Ball previously, but everyone's safety is the most important thing in these uncertain times.

Here's hoping that in 2021 we can find a way to get to grips with this pandemic and that Amber can return to meet her fans in the UK once again.

Stay safe everyone!

Joe
