As regular visitors to the site will know this section is usually reserved for the latest Amber news. However, as with my previous post, I’m catching up on some great content from late last year.
Why you ask? Well, when ‘Slayers: A Buffyverse Story’ was released in October 2023 (for more information visit our brand-new dedicated Slayer page – just click on the hyperlink) Amber did a number of interviews about this exciting project and due to work commitments and my personal circumstances at the time, I was having a hard time keeping up with all the excellent content.
One of the reasons I built this site was to be a resource for fellow fans. A place to find out more and provide links to the content that is still available for you to access and enjoy. I recently took a holiday from work, so I decided it was time to catch up! Now on to the post itself:
In December 2023 Amber was the guest on the ‘Son of a Binge’ podcast hosted by Reshma Gopaldas. Each month she invites guests to talk about their latest project as well as what shows they are currently bingeing.
Reshma begins by asking Amber how ‘Slayers: A Buffyverse Story’ came about and what it was like to be back in the world of the Buffyverse.
Amber also gives us the lowdown on what she likes best about her fellow cast members; working in the multi-verse and what the situation is for some of the characters when we first meet them, as well as the challenges and practicalities of recording under COVID-19 restrictions.
The cast is full of returning Buffy stars, but we are also introduced to a new Slayer, Indira Nunnally played by Laya DeLeon Hays. Amber talks about the role Laya plays and how she is key to the story.
Tara Maclay, the character Amber played in the Buffy the Vampire Slayer TV series, was killed off in controversial circumstances in 2002. Amber discusses what it was like returning to play a character that both she and the audience love so much. As part of the Slayers story takes place in an alternative reality, Amber discusses the situation this version of Tara finds herself in. Also, why it was so important to Amber to keep all of Tara’s core values from the TV version – specifically her goodness, kindness, and empathy still being present.
Reshma also invites Amber to play a game of Stake, Marry, Kill. Just a heads-up: stake doesn't mean what it usually does. These are just some of the things they discuss in this entertaining podcast.

It's also important to note that this podcast was recorded during the strike held by the members of SAG-AFTRA and The Writer’s Guild of America which meant that Amber couldn't directly reference the original Buffy the Vampire Slayer TV show at the time.
This is a thoroughly enjoyable listen and it's a must for Amber fans. Sorry about the delay.
