Amber Is The Guest On Episode One Of Writers On Writing

Amber is the guest for the inaugural episode of web series Writers On Writing. The series was created by writer James Moran and is hosted on his official website The Pen Is Mightier Than The Spork.

James is a versatile writer whose credits include work on TV shows Doctor Who, Torchwood, Spooks and Primeval. He has also worked on feature films Severance, The Tower Block and Cockneys vs Zombies. Shorts, web series, comic books are also something that appear on his impressive CV.

James has described writers on writing as a semi regular video series where he interviews fellow writers about their process and in Amber we think he picked the perfect guest for his first episode. :-)

Amber Benson’s Appearances On The Once And Future Podcast

This morning I checked out my Twitter feed I was pleased to discover that Anton Strout had posted a link to all of Amber's appearances on the Once And Future Podcast as well as all his other episodes as well.

I was also horrified to discover that somehow I'd managed to miss two episodes in which Amber makes an appearance which if you're a regular viewer of my site may surprise you as much as it did me. At this point I’ll hang my head in shame because you know how much I enjoy bringing you news about Amber's creative endeavours.

First of all let's rewind and start at the beginning with what is The Once And Future Podcast?

The Once And Future Podcast is the creation of Anton Strout, fans of urban fantasy novels may well recognise him as the hugely successful author of both The Spellmason Chronicles & The Simon Canderous paranormal detective series. As well as being an accomplished author Anton is also a fan of podcasts but couldn't find one that was talking about science fiction and fantasy novels so Anton decided to do it himself hence The Once And Future Podcast was born.

To date there are 51 episodes with a guest list that reads like a Who's Who of science fiction, urban fantasy and paranormal romance.

Amber Will Be Giving Away Free Copies Of The Witches Of Echo Park At New York Comic Con

Amber announced on social media yesterday that she will not only be attending this year's New York comic con but will be giving away copies of her upcoming novel The Witches of Echo Park.

Saying:

“I will be at #NYCC & there will be free copies of my new book THE WITCHES OF ECHO PARK. Come by booth #2108 for your signed copy!”

The Witches of Echo Park is set to be released on 6 January 2015 meaning that some lucky fans will have the chance to enjoy this exciting new series first and have it signed too.

A Preview Of Lock In Audiobook Narrated By Amber Benson Is Available On Tor.com

Tor.com has recently released preview clips from both the audiobook versions of Lock In by John Scalzi.

John is taking the unusual step of recording two entirely separate versions of Lock In. This is because the gender of lead character Chris Shane isn't revealed in the course of the book so one will be narrated by Amber and the other by her friend and fellow actor Wil Wheaton.

Lock In is a futuristic thriller where the mysterious and deadly Haden Syndrome has devastated the planet. Twenty-five years after the appearance of this deadly virus two FBI agents Chris Shane and his veteran partner Leslie Vann are sent to investigate a Haden related murder at the Watergate Hotel unaware they are about to uncover a much bigger mystery.

Lock In an audible production will be released on 26 August this year but it is available to pre-order via both the US and UK Audible websites now. Both sites offer the facility to buy the audiobook for a one-off fee for non-members. Audible also offers a range of packages where in return for a regular monthly fee a user is entitled to download Lock In as well as access to a vast library of audiobooks also available on the site. The number of books you can download in the month will depend upon your individual package for full details see the respective Audible websites.

There are no prizes for guessing which version I have pre-ordered sorry Wil I'm sure your version is excellent but as you might expect Amber was the narrator I picked :-)

The Cover Art For The Witches of Echo Park Has Been Released

In 2013 following the completion of The Golden Age Of Death the fifth and final book in her hugely successful Calliope Reaper-Jones series Amber announced she had begun work on the first of a brand-new series of urban fantasy novels set in Los Angeles, The Witches of Echo Park.

The Witches of Echo Park was described by Amber herself as the novel's working title in fact when the book was initially listed for preorder on online retailer Amazon in March of this year. The Witches of Echo Park had now become the title for the series and the first book was at that time named as Homecoming. A release date was tentatively listed for December 2014. However Amber recently posted a link to the novel via social media which displayed the brand-new cover art and confirmed that the book had returned to its original working title and will be named the witches of Echo Park. The official release date for the book is now listed as 6 January 2015.

Desire Will Set You Free Is Going Into Postproduction

Amber will star in the film Desire Will Set You Free written and directed by Yony Leyser. The film centres on the relationship between Ezra (Yony Leyser) who is an American of Israeli-Palestinian descent and Sasha (Tim-Fabian Hoffman) an aspiring Russian artist and sometime street hustler.

Yony and his team began a Kickstarter campaign in July with the aim of raising $33,000 to put desire will set you free into postproduction after a successful shoot. The campaign came to an end a week ago beating its initial target by raising a total of $34,058 meaning that Desire Will Set You Free is officially in postproduction.

The film is based on a true story and will take a contemporary look at the gay and underground scene in Berlin where the film was shot. Amber will be playing the role of Jane no further details have been released about Amber’s character as yet, indeed if I've spelt her character's name incorrectly I apologise to both Amber and Yony in advance.

A First Look At Morganville The Series Starring Amber Benson

This is what fans of both Amber Benson and Morganville Vampires had been waiting for our very first look at Morganville the series. The first trailer that gives fans their first chance to see Amber and the rest of the cast in character on screen for the first time.

If you are hearing the name Morganville for the very first time don't worry let me get you up to speed. Morganville is the setting for Rachel Caine's phenomenally successful MORGANVILLE VAMPIRES series of novels. Morganville is a town in Texas like no other in that it's run entirely by vampires. The series spans 15 books and has millions of devoted followers. Unlike other similar series, however, (such as the ever popular Harry Potter series), Morganville has never been made into a film or TV series.

In the summer of 2013 Rachel decided it was time for this to change she announced ambitious plans to produce a series of TV quality webisodes to bring the world of Morganville from the page to the screen for the first time. To help make her dream a reality Rachel enlisted the help of Blake Calhoun to direct the series and Amber Benson to play the leading role of Morganville Town Founder Amelie, after so many years of Buffy under her belt, it appears to be a case of "If you can't slay them, join them". Now of course we all know that it won't be Amber's first time playing a vampire. Who could forget her brilliant performance as Lenore on the hit television show SUPERNATURAL, or her voice over capabilities as Vampire Tara in Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Chaos Bleeds?

Now that Blake and Amber were on board funding had to be secured to achieve this, Rachel decided to use Kickstarter offering fans of the series exciting rewards in return for their donations and the chance to be part of this exciting project. The campaign was a huge success it smashed its initial target raising $81,752 meaning the series was a go.

The series was filmed on location in Texas throughout April 2014 and joining Amber in bringing Morganville residents to life is Stargate star Robert Picardo as Oliver and an exciting roster of young acting talent including:

Lindsay Seidel, Jordan Farris, Ben Easter, Haileigh Todd, Afomia Hailemeskel, Chase Ryan Jeffery, Gregory Connors, Nikki Donley, Jessi Mechler &Taylor Murphy.

It was also announced that Geek and Sundry the online TV channel, multimedia platform and production company co-founded by actress Felicia Day announced it would be adding Morganville to its line-up of shows including Tabletop and Caper from the summer of 2014.

This exciting partnership meant that Geek and Sundry played host to a Morganville The Series panel at San Diego Comic Con on 25 July. This brings us neatly back to the trailer I mentioned at the top of this post, the following video was given its world premiere at Comic Con and then released to everyone who had backed the Kickstarter campaign. These fans were able to enjoy it exclusively for the last week. Rachel has now released the trailer today so everyone can enjoy it.
