Tor.com has recently released preview clips from both the audiobook versions of Lock In by John Scalzi.
John is taking the unusual step of recording two entirely separate versions of Lock In. This is because the gender of lead character Chris Shane isn't revealed in the course of the book so one will be narrated by Amber and the other by her friend and fellow actor Wil Wheaton.
Lock In is a futuristic thriller where the mysterious and deadly Haden Syndrome has devastated the planet. Twenty-five years after the appearance of this deadly virus two FBI agents Chris Shane and his veteran partner Leslie Vann are sent to investigate a Haden related murder at the Watergate Hotel unaware they are about to uncover a much bigger mystery.
Lock In an audible production will be released on 26 August this year but it is available to pre-order via both the US and UK Audible websites now. Both sites offer the facility to buy the audiobook for a one-off fee for non-members. Audible also offers a range of packages where in return for a regular monthly fee a user is entitled to download Lock In as well as access to a vast library of audiobooks also available on the site. The number of books you can download in the month will depend upon your individual package for full details see the respective Audible websites.

There are no prizes for guessing which version I have pre-ordered sorry Wil I'm sure your version is excellent but as you might expect Amber was the narrator I picked :-)
