Amber will be a guest on a panel after a screening of Gabrielle Zilkha’s new film Queering The Script in which she talks to creators, actors and fans about the history and the treatment of queer female characters on television. The film discusses troubling stereotypes and the killing off of much loved characters. The film also examines new ideas for a better and more inclusive approach to showing these characters on screen.
As I'm sure most fans will know Amber played the role of Tara Maclay on the hit TV show Buffy The Vampire Slayer. Tara and Willow played by Alyson Hannigan were the first long-term openly gay couple on US network television. Amber and Alyson have both spoken of the importance of their character’s on screen relationship and their pride at being able to be part of it. The role of Tara had a huge impact on Amber's life and she continues to be a huge supporter of the LGBTQ community.
Joining Amber on the panel are Isabella Gomez (One Day at a Time), Angelica Ross (Pose), Marja-Lewis Ryan (The L Word: Generation Q) schedules permitting. Moderated by Tracy E. Gilchrist, Feminism Editor of The Advocate.
The panel is taking place at 4:30 PM on Saturday, 20thof July at TCL Chinese 6 Theatres on Hollywood Boulevard, Hollywood California. To find out more about the venue click here.
