Amber was a guest on the most recent episode of On The Rocks Radio Show with J August Richards and Stephanie Romanov.

6/13/2026

A few days ago, Amber was a guest on the most recent episode of On The Rocks Radio Show. This episode was hosted by Alexander Rodriguez and Steven Dehler, to kick off Pride Month. They talked about both Buffy the Vampire Slayer and it’s spin off Angel, with Amber Benson, J. August Richards and Stephanie Romanov.

This episode was filmed/recorded a couple of days before all three actors were part of The Weho Pride Parade in West Hollywood, which took place on Sunday, the 7th of June and all three will also be guests at Hellmouth Con 2026. Click the hyperlinks to find out more.

The first part of the show focuses on Angel and Alexander and Steven talked to J. August Richards a.k.a. Charles Gunn, and Stephanie Romanov who played Lilah Morgan. They chatted about how they began their careers, being cast in their roles and their memories of Angel.

The second part focuses on Buffy, and Amber joined live by video call. She discussed growing up in Birmingham Alabama and her love of the cinema which was one of the reasons she wanted to pursue a career in acting at an early age. Amber talks about one of first roles working with famed Hollywood director Steven Soderbergh at age just thirteen.

Amber discusses being cast as Tara Maclay, the importance of the role and how Tara’s relationship with Willow, played by Alyson Hannigan, helped to change people’s perceptions of same sex relationships.

The Buffyverse continues to play a big part in Amber's career as she's written comic books, short stories and co-wrote Slayers: A Buffyverse Story. This original audio drama for Audible was written by Amber and her friend and fellow author Christopher Golden. Amber also reprised her role as Tara Maclay, as well as being a key cast member she also co-directed this drama. Amber also highlighted the many friendships she made whilst working on the show.

However, the interview doesn't only focus on Buffy, Amber talks about how her life might have been different if she had accepted a place at University. She discusses her love of storytelling and mythology and in recent years writing has been the main focus of her career. Be sure to check out the written word section of the website it has a full list of her writing credits including novels, film and television projects as well as audio dramas.

Amber, Alexander and Steven go into much more detail on all of these topics and it's a fascinating, funny and honest interview from Amber that fans won't want to miss. I have watched both the Buffy and Angel parts of the interview and if you have the time definitely check it all out, the Buffy and Amber section starts at around the 56 minute mark.

On The Rocks Radio Show is available not just as a traditional podcast but is also available via their official YouTube Channel. I've embedded the video version below so you can watch the interviews with Amber, J August and Stephanie too.

Disclaimer: There are some brief references to sex as well as mature themes and strong language. This is intended for a mature audience, discretion is advised.

As I said above there are multiple ways in which you can watch or listen to On The Rocks Radio Show, for more information visit their official website, click here.

Amber's interview is a must listen for fans I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Amber Benson is the special guest on a bonus episode of the Chasing Amy Adams Podcast.

12/31/2025

Earlier this month Amber was the guest on a special bonus episode of the Chasing Amy Adams Podcast. The podcast was created by Dane McDonald and Louis Peitzman and it's dedicated to the career of actor and producer Amy Adams.

As many fans will know Amber played the role of Tara Maclay for three seasons on Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Amy guest starred as Tara’s cousin Beth in Season Five, Episode Six “Family”. Louis Peitzman who hosted this episode is a fan of Buffy too. He started by asking Amber what it was like to have an episode that focused on her character Tara. They also discuss Tara’s relationship with Willow as this is a key theme of the episode.

Amber recalls what it was like to work with Amy, her professionalism and having the opportunity to make her feel welcome and chat as they travel to shoot together on location.

Louis and Amber discussed some of Amy's other work and Amber highlights a couple of her favourite performances by Amy including the romantic comedy Leap Year which happens to be one of my favourites too.

The good news is you can listen to Louis and Amber as they chat about all this and a whole lot more in this episode. It is available for free from both Spotify and Apple Podcasts just click the hyperlinks.

Disclaimer: There is some mildly offensive language within the podcast. If you are new to Buffy the Vampire Slayer as I know there are new generations of fans watching for the first time then there will be some spoilers for the “Family” episode.

I really enjoyed this podcast and I would recommend it to fans. I would like to wish everyone a very Happy New Year. Thank you for visiting the site in 2025, at times I haven't been able to put information on the site as quickly as I would've liked but I'm hoping to improve this in 2026 thank you all for your support.
